What To Expect In a Zumba Class

Zumba is the modern dance workout class that’s sweeping the region.

With modified dance routines from meringue & salsa to bollywood & belly dancing they are put together in to a work out with a incredible party atmosphere.

Zumba was created by Beto Perez from Latin America who one day forgot the music for his aerobics class. All he had was a variety of music CDs from his car. With that mixed bag of music the class he instructed proved to be very well liked & the rest is history.

It was discovered that a lot of people were feeling uncomfortable by the normal stategy of teaching a fitness lesson. So in comparison all Zumba workouts are taught with no or minimal verbal queuing & with no pressure from the director to make the steps correctly.

The women in the class just mimic the moves the coach is performing but if they can’t or do not desire to do that step, all they have to do is to do their own thing, keep moving & to have fun fun fun!

Zumba is outstanding for students over the age of 16 and is good for all levels of fitness and experience. And for persons younger than that there is Zumbatomic. There’s no dress code (Lycra is NOT mandatory!).

Just take what you feel comfortable in but do do not forget you’ll get extremely hot! The best shoes to take are ones that will offer your foot support (similiar to an aerobic type shoe). It’s good not to wear a shoe that has too much traction because can cause work load on your knees.

People are instructed to bring a towel and a water bottle along them as they’ll become very hot! There is a break in between every song allowing every one to get a refreshing shot of water before the dance goes on.

With Zumba programs starting up everywhere, towns are slowly starting to tremble as if attacked by an earthquake, as people shimmy, shake & gyrate to the terrific Latin beats that is Zumba Fitness.

Zumba is infectious with many people having to go to four or 5 classes per week because they appreciate the system SO much.

In an average one hour long work out, you will melt around 500 – six-hundred calories but can lose as many as 8 hundred if you pull all of the stops out.
