Zumba For Dummies

Zumba is the new dance work out program that is spreading through the planet.

With differing dance routines from meringue & salsa to bollywood & belly dancing they are blended together in to a work out with a cool party atmosphere.

Zumba was originated by Beto Perez from Latin America who one day did not remember the music for his aerobics class. All he had was a bunch of music CDs from his car. With that mixed bag of music the lesson he led proved to be very well liked & the rest is history.

It was discovered that alot of students were intimidated by the usual tactics of instucting a fitness lesson. So in comparison all Zumba workouts are taught with no or minimal verbal queuing & with no pressure from the instructor to do the steps properly.

The members in the class just perform the techniques the teacher is doing but if they cannot or do not desire to do that move, all they must do is to do their own thing, keep moving & to have fun fun fun!

Zumba is excellent for somenone over the age of 16 and is good for all levels of fitness and experience. And for persons younger than that there is Zumbatomic. There’s no dress code (Spandex is NOT mandatory!).

Just bring what you feel comfortable in but also bear in mind you’ll be very hot! The best shoes to use are those that will give your foot support (similiar to an aerobic type shoe). It’s best not to bring a shoe that has too much traction as this can cause work load on your knees.

People are encouraged to bring a towel & a water bottle along with them as they’ll become extremely hot! There is a pause in between every dance allowing every one to take a fast shot of water before the exercise starts up.

With Zumba programs starting up everywhere, towns are slowly starting to tremble as if attacked by an earth quake, as dancers shimmy, shake & spin to the fantastic Latin songs that is Zumba Fitness.

Zumba is contagious with some people having to go to four or five workouts per week because they relish the class SO much.

In an average hour long class, you will work off approximately five-hundred – 600 calories but can reach up to 8 hundred if you pull all of the stops out.
