A Newbie’s Guide To Zumba

A Newbie’s Guide To Zumba

Zumba is the brand-new dance work out program that is spreading over the globe.

With diversified dance choreography from meringue & salsa to bollywood & belly dancing they are placed together in to a workout with a fantastic party atmosphere.

Zumba was created by Beto Perez from Latin America who one day forgot the music for his aerobics class. All he had was a box of music CDs from his car. With that mixed bag of music the lesson he taught proved to be very exciting & the rest is history.

It was discovered that many people were feeling uncomfortable by the usual tactics of leading a work out lesson. So in comparison all Zumba workouts are led with no or minimal verbal queuing & with no pressure from the coach to do the steps properly.

The members in the class just follow the routines the coach is making but if they can’t or do not desire to do that step, all they have to do is to do their own thing, keep moving & to have fun fun fun!

Zumba is excellent for somenone over the age of 16 and is good for all levels of fitness and experience. And for students younger than that there is Zumbatomic. There’s no dress code (Lycra is NOT mandatory!).

Just take what you feel comfortable in but do bear in mind you’ll get extremely hot! The best shoes to bring are ones that will offer your foot support (similiar to an aerobic style shoe). It’s better not to bring a shoe that has too much grip as this can add pain on your knees.

People are advised to bring a towel and a water bottle along with them because they will get very hot! There is a stop between every song allowing everyone to get a refreshing taste of water before the work out commences.

With Zumba classes popping up everywhere, neighborhoods are slowly starting to rock as if struck by an earthquake, as students shimmy, shake & twirl to the great Latin music that is Zumba Fitness.

Zumba is addictive with many people having to go to four or 5 workouts per week because they enjoy the system SO much.

In an average one hour long work out, you will melt around 500 – six-hundred calories but can burn as many as 8 hundred if you pull all of the stops out.
