Zumba For Dummies

Zumba is the brand-new dance workout platform that is spreading over the globe.

With diversified dance choreography from meringue & salsa to bollywood & belly dancing they are placed together in to a workout with a fantastic party atmosphere.

Zumba was created by Beto Perez from Latin America who one day forgot the music for his aerobics class. All he had was a box of music CDs from his car. With that mixed bag of music the lesson he taught proved to be very well liked & the rest is history.

It was discovered that a lot of members were intimidated by the usual tactics of directing a workout class. So in comparison all Zumba classes are performed with no or minimal verbal queuing & with no pressure from the teacher to perform the steps right.

The members in the class just perform the techniques the teacher is doing but if they cannot or do not desire to do that move, all they must do is to do their own thing, keep moving & to have fun fun fun!

Zumba is excellent for somenone over the age of 16 and is good for all levels of fitness and experience. For persons younger than that there’s Zumbatomic. There’s no dress code (Lycra is NOT essential!).

Just wear what you feel comfortable in but do do not forget you’ll get very hot! The best shoes to use are those that will give your foot support (similiar to an aerobic type shoe). It’s good not to wear a shoe that has too much traction because can cause work load on your knees.

People are encouraged to bring a towel & a bottle of water with them since you will become extremely hot! There is a rest between each track allowing everyone to have a small taste of water before the workout commences.

With Zumba class popping up everywhere, communities are slowly starting to rattle as if struck by an earthquake, as people shimmy, shake & twirl to the awesome Latin beats that is Zumba Fitness.

Zumba is contagious with some people having to go to four or five workouts per week because they enjoy the system SO much.

In an average 1 hour long lesson, you will burn around 500 – six-hundred calories but can use as many as 8 hundred if you pull all of the stops out.
