Zumba is the original dance exercise routine that’s sweeping the country.

With different dance choreography from meringue & salsa to bollywood & belly dancing they are placed together in to a work out with a incredible party atmosphere.

Zumba was invented by Beto Perez from Latin America who one day forgot the music for his aerobics class. All he had was a box of music CDs from his car. With that mixed bag of music the lesson he taught proved to be very well liked & the rest is history.

It was discovered that alot of members were intimidated by the traditional technique of instucting a fitness lesson. So in comparison all Zumba lessons are taught with no or minimal verbal queuing & with no pressure from the director to make the steps right.

The girls in the class just mimic the routines the coach is making but if they can’t or do not desire to do that move, all they must do is to do their own thing, keep moving & to have fun fun fun!

Zumba is awesome for somenone over the age of 16 and is good for all levels of fitness and experience. And for persons younger than that there is Zumbatomic. There’s no dress code (Lycra is NOT essential!).

Just wear what you feel comfortable in but do don’t forget you will get extremely hot! The best shoes to wear are those that will assist your foot support (like an aerobic type shoe). It’s good not to wear a shoe that has too much traction because can cause work load on your knees.

People are encouraged to bring a towel & a drink along them as they’ll become very hot! There is a stop between each dance allowing every body to take a fast drink of water before the exercise starts up.

With Zumba programs starting up everywhere,towns are slowly starting to tremble as if attacked by an earth quake, as dancers shimmy, shake & gyrate to the terrific Latin songs that is Zumba Fitness.

Zumba is catching with alot of people having to go to 4 or five work-outs per week because they like the program SO much.

In an average 1 hour long class, you will work off between five-hundred – six hundred calories but can reach up to eight-hundred when you pull all of the stops out.
