Zumba Q & A

Zumba is the modern dance workout platform that’s spreading over the world.

With diversified dance choreography from meringue & salsa to bollywood & belly dancing they are put together into a routine with a incredible party atmosphere.

Zumba was invented by Beto Perez from Columbia who one day did not remember the music for his aerobics class. All he had was a selection of music CDs from his car. With that mixed bag of music the routine he led proved to be very popular and the rest is history.

It was discovered that numerous people were feeling uncomfortable by the old method of directing a workout class. So in comparison all Zumba workouts are taught with no or minimal verbal queuing & with no pressure from the coach to execute the steps correctly.

The women in the class just copy the steps the Zumba instuctor is performing but if they can’t or do not desire to do that technique, all they have to do is to do their own thing, keep moving & to have fun fun fun!

Zumba is good for dancers over the age of 16 and is good for all levels of fitness and experience. And for persons younger than that there is Zumbatomic. There’s no dress code (Lycra is NOT essential!).

Just take what you feel comfortable in but do bear in mind you’ll get extremely hot! The best shoes to take are ones that will offer your foot support (similiar to an aerobic style shoe). It’s better not to take a shoe that has too much grip since can add work on your knees.

People are advised to bring a towel and a water bottle along with them because they will get very hot! There is a rest between each dance allowing every body to get a quick drink of water before the dance starts up.

With Zumba programs opening up everywhere, neighborhoods are slowly starting to tremble as if attacked by an earth quake, as dancers shimmy, shake & gyrate to the fantastic Latin beats that is Zumba Fitness.

Zumba is contagious with alot of people having to go to 4 or five work outs per week because they like the program SO much.

In an average hour long work-out, you will lose close to five hundred – six hundred calories but can burn up to 800 when you pull all of the stops out.
